Natasha Osawaru Drops 2Baba’s Surname at Edo Assembly

##Natasha Osawaru Introduces Herself Without 2Baba’s Surname at Edo Assembly

Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru has sparked reactions online after introducing herself without her husband’s surname, Idibia, during a plenary session of the Edo State House of Assembly. In a video shared on her Instagram page on October 13, 2026, Natasha introduced herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” while addressing lawmakers.

The lawmaker, who represents Egor Constituency and serves as the Assembly’s minority leader, was speaking in support of a bill aimed at strengthening emergency response in Edo State.Speaking during the session, she said, “Mr Speaker, my name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, member representing the very great people of Egor Constituency and, by God’s grace, the minority leader of this House.”

The moment attracted attention on social media, with some users speculating about a possible separation between Natasha and her husband, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, the Nigerian singer behind the hit song “African Queen.”

Natasha and 2Baba held their traditional wedding ceremony in July 2025, following the singer’s highly publicised separation from his former wife, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, whom he was married to for about 12 years.Speculation about the couple’s relationship intensified after Natasha was reportedly absent from 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party in Lagos in September 2026.

However, neither Natasha nor 2Baba has publicly confirmed a separation or divorce in connection with the latest incident. Her decision to introduce herself using the Osawaru surname does not, by itself, establish a change in their relationship.

For now, the reason she did not use the Idibia surname during the Assembly session remains unclear.
