Shatta Wale’s Stonebwoy Love Shocks Ghana Music Fans

“You cannot stop me from loving Stonebwoy, you can’t stop me from supporting what Stonebwoy is doing.”
Those words from Shatta Wale became one of the biggest talking points from the MoMoFest X ShattaFest concert in Ho, Volta Region, after the Ghanaian dancehall star publicly expressed his support for fellow musician Stonebwoy.
Shatta Wale made the statement while performing at the event on Saturday, October 3, 2026. He told the crowd that he did not consider anyone his enemy and that he had no interest in fighting anybody.
“I don’t have an enemy, I’ve given my life to Christ. I don’t want to fight anybody,” he said.

The moment became even more surprising when Shatta Wale went on to perform “Putuu,” one of Stonebwoy’s popular songs. The decision immediately caught the attention of fans because of the long-running rivalry between the two dancehall stars.
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have been at the centre of one of Ghana’s most closely followed music rivalries. Their disagreements have attracted significant attention over the years, including the well-known confrontation involving their entourages at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Because of that history, seeing Shatta Wale openly praise Stonebwoy and perform his song gave the ShattaFest crowd a very different picture of their relationship.
According to the Ghana News Agency, Shatta Wale used the performance to encourage artistes to support and celebrate one another rather than allow hatred and rivalry to divide them. He also urged young people to embrace love and unity.
The dancehall star highlighted the musical talent coming from the Volta Region, mentioning himself, Stonebwoy and Edem as examples of artistes who have helped put the region on the national and international music map.

The performance of “Putuu” reportedly received an enthusiastic response from the thousands of fans at the venue, with patrons singing and dancing along.
The Stonebwoy moment is particularly significant because it adds another chapter to the complicated relationship between the two musicians. Their history has not always been about conflict. In 2017, Shatta Wale surprised Stonebwoy at the Ashaiman to the World concert, where the two artistes shared the stage and hugged.

Shatta Wale’s latest gesture therefore appears to reinforce his recent calls for greater unity within Ghana’s music industry. Rather than using the stage to revisit old disagreements, he chose to celebrate another major Ghanaian artiste.
For many fans, the performance was more than just singing another artiste’s song. It became a public message that competition does not necessarily have to lead to hatred.
With Shatta Wale declaring his support for Stonebwoy and using “Putuu” to spread a message of unity, the ShattaFest moment could become another memorable example of Ghanaian musicians putting rivalry aside and supporting one another.
