Moonshot Lagos puts African tech back in focus
Lagos shines again as African tech is on the map, in the spotlight
Moonshot by TechCabal is back in Lagos, and it's a clear reminder that the city remains a key hub for the continent's tech ecosystem. The conference returns for its fourth edition on October 28–29, 2026, at the National Theatre, under the theme "Courage & Conviction — Building for a New World."
A shift in mindset will wow you
This year's theme builds on 2025's "Building Momentum," which recognised an ecosystem finding its feet after the funding squeeze of 2022 and 2023. The message now is simple: survival was never the goal , it was the starting point. As Olanewaju Odunowo of TechCabal Insights put it, "Survival was never the ceiling. It was always just the floor."
The numbers speaks for itself
Moonshot's growth has been hard to ignore. The 2025 edition pulled 6,000 attendees from 39 countries, bringing the three-year total to over 12,650 participants from 44 countries. Investors at the conference have deployed more than $5 billion through their funds, while exhibiting startups carry a combined valuation above $15 billion. The TC Battlefield pitch competition has also awarded $105,000 in prize money since 2023.
What's coming
The 2026 edition will feature nine content tracks, from AI and climate tech to commerce and policy. Confirmed speakers include Flutterwave's Olugbenga Agboola, MTN Nigeria's Karl Toriola, and OpenAI's Emmanuel Lubanzadio. Tomiwa Aladekomo, CEO of Big Cabal Media, summed up the stakes: "The question now is whether we build with the courage to own more of the value we create."
